INFORMATION PACKET

MISSION STATEMENT

Marin Ballroom Dance Theater’s purpose is to offer a positive, comfortable and supportive atmosphere for independent teachers to teach dance and movement. It is our aim that all students leave this space feeling good about themselves as well as having gained high quality instruction in their desired discipline.

STUDIO USE GUIDELINES

1. SCHEDULING

Feel free to call our office at (415) 453-6797 to put your lesson, class, or practice time on our calender. Time slots are given on a 1^st come, 1^st serve basis. For lessons and practice, MBDT has a 24 hour in advance cancellation policy, i.e. payment is required for reserved studio space if the cancellation was not made within 24 hours, so that we can offer the space to someone else who might like to use it. Workshops (reserving the studio for ½ day or more) require a 2 week advance cancellation.

2. STUDIO ACCESS

A key to the studio is a lock box in the back of the building. Please remember to return the key when you leave for the next person using the space.

3. FLOOR

Please wear suede or white rubber bottomed shoes (barefoot is also ok) and, if you are a teacher, please make sure your students do the same to protect the floor from scratches and black skid-marks. If your students wear street shoes, please ask them to brush off any dirt or rocks from the outside before dancing.

Our kitchen area is available if you want to bring a snack or drink. Please keep food and drink (except bottled water) out of the dance floor area.

Feel free to make use of our sound system, VCR and DVD player. During regular daytime business hours (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM), please keep the volume knob on the stereo to a 12 or less in consideration of the other tenants who share the building.

Please sign a liability form (see attached) and have each student sign a liability form on his or her first class, lesson, or practice time. You will find them in a folder on the bulletin board by the bathroom. This is required by the owner of the building.

Please put your payment in the drawer in the corner near the kitchen with a note of the time and date of payment. Payment for lessons and practice is due at the time the studio is used. If you teach multiple classes during the week, you may pay at the end of the week if you prefer. Payment for workshops is due at the time of reservation. Please make checks out to Allco Engineering, Inc.
